"Step into the Light"

Description: This was my first leap into lamp making or adding any electrical light to a build, I took the design from a suncatcher on pinterest and added the corner pieces so it would be rectangular. (although the top cover piece was all my design.) That seemed like the easiest steps into lamps, a rectangle or square shape where all the sides are panels connected together. I am proud of my first lamp which was entered into Delphi Glass' "Glass Festival" in April of 2026.

Description: The Orca Lamp was my first time making anything 3D, and only my second lamp overall, so I was figuring a lot out as I went. Designing it was the hardest part. I had never made a 3D pattern before, so wrapping something organic like an orca around a cylinder took a lot of trial and error. I had to trust it would come together in the glass. The deep blue and cream base, with small bursts of primary colors, completely transforms when the LED lighting is on. Hand cut, patina finished, and built through plenty of recutting and adjusting, this piece taught me a lot about problem solving, persistence, and what I am capable of.

Description: This light box featuring Godzilla using his atomic breath in a moody dark city on fire was made as a gift for one of my longtime friends, Mikey. He has always been a massive Godzilla fan, so the subject of his gift was obvious. I used a frame from HomeGoods that was going to be donated, so I had a predetermined size. It felt nice to create something flat for a change. I am especially proud of the depth created by the red sky, layered buildings, and Godzilla standing in the foreground. I also enjoyed challenging myself to create as many custom shaped single pieces as possible instead of building shapes from multiple pieces.

Description: Inspired by the beauty of Japanese cherry blossoms, this lamp shade features six and a half blossoms wrapping around the entire form. It was made for my wonderful mother, and our family's Japanese heritage, along with visits to relatives overseas, gave the design a deeper meaning. What began as a simple cherry blossom lamp became a love letter to Japan and our family. Once the pattern was finalized, construction came together smoothly. The blossoms, branches, and leaves often crossed from one facet to the next, creating a cohesive design that flows seamlessly around the entire shade.

Description: Inspired by world renowned Japanese art glass kaleidoscope artist Koji Yamami, I created this simple kaleidoscope as my first ever! It uses a 3-way mirror system, which is held by a cylindrical shaft. The piece features irid purple glass with a few pieces of clear and galaxy mirror as an accent section making up the body. I originally soldered many different pieces together creating my first image disk however with the access to kilns at my job, I have fused 3 new image disks which have created my personal favorite patterns of mine.
